West News Wire: American Muslims have put fresh pressure on President Joe Biden, threatening to withdraw their support in the event that a truce in Gaza, where Israel has been attacking civilian areas for more than three weeks, is not achieved.
Muslim leaders and many Democratic Party activists forewarned Biden that unless he acts quickly to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza, they will launch a campaign to organize millions of Muslim voters to abstain from contributing to and voting in the Democratic presidential candidate’s 2024 reelection.
The US National Muslim Democratic Council which includes Democratic Party leaders from hotly contested states whose voters’ ballots will likely decide the outcome of the 2024 presidential election in the United States, such as the states of Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania mounted pressure on Biden to push Israelis to put a ceasefire in place in Gaza by 5 pm (2100 GMT) on Tuesday.
The Muslim leaders issued a threat to Muslim voters in an open letter titled “2023 Ceasefire Ultimatum,” urging them to “withhold endorsement, support, or votes for any candidate who endorses the Israeli offensive against the Palestinian people.”
“Your administration’s unconditional support, encompassing funding and armaments, has played a significant role in perpetuating the violence that is causing civilian casualties and has eroded trust in voters who previously put their faith in you,” the council stated.
Meanwhile, the Zionist authority has persisted in its horrific bombardment on the people of Gaza, which commenced at the beginning of this month following the initiation of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by the Hamas resistance organization against the Israeli forces occupying the region.
Since then, at least 8,525 Palestinians including over 3,400 children have died, and 21,048 Gazans have been injured.
In addition to firing artillery bombs from the sea and land and using its jets to bombard the trapped population, the Israelis cut off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians residing there.
In order for supplies to reach the trapped people in Gaza, where the Israeli forces’ homicidal carnage has driven more than 1.4 million people to abandon their homes, the world community has asked for an emergency humanitarian truce.
On Monday, the chief of the United Nations Relief and Works Administration (UNRWA) declared that the Gaza ceasefire had become “a matter of life and death for millions” of Palestinians. Medicine, food, fuel, and water are running low in Gaza, and Philippe Lazzarini issued a warning. Basic services are collapsing.
But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu turned down demands for a ceasefire after receiving approval for the genocide against the Palestinians from both Biden and the Pentagon.
“Calls for a cease-fire are really demands that Israel give up to Hamas. That’s not going to happen,” Netanyahu said on TV.
Netanyahu declared, “Israel will fight until this battle is won,” saying that airstrikes on Gaza’s women and children would not stop until the Zionist occupant group has totally crushed all Palestinian resistance in the occupied lands, regardless of who supports the Tel Aviv regime.
The US military provided the Israeli regime forces with weaponry and ammunition for their raids on Gaza, including GBU and sophisticated fighter jets equipped with precise missiles.
Apart from the fact that Washington arms, finances, and supports the Zionists wholeheartedly, US leaders from the US Army and Navy, as well as the US Central Command (CENTCOM), have been to Israel to assist Israeli officials in their continuous massacre of Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
At an event in Tehran on Tuesday, Major General Gholam-Ali Rashid, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, stated, “The Iranian Armed Forces have received information that commanders of the CENTCOM, as well as the US Army and Navy, have teamed up with Israeli commandants at an underground base in Tel Aviv to supervise and direct the Zionist regime’s brutal offensives against Palestinian people.”
“This shows that the United States’ tactics run counter to its claim of curbing the war in the region,” he continued, pointing out that Israel is receiving guidance and support for ground battles in addition to thousands of devastating bombs and missiles that have already been supplied to occupied Palestine.
