West News Wire: Iran claims that the United States and Europe lack the legal, judicial, and moral authority to offer moral judgement on matters pertaining to international human rights.

Nasser Kanani, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, criticised recent meddling remarks made by American and European officials about Iranian human rights on Saturday.

“Western politicians had better heed the grievances of their own citizens and spend time on their own human rights and citizenship demands,” Kan’ani added. “Instead of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and trying to portray a humanitarian face, they had better show a human face.”

He claimed that the US and EU are using human rights to advance their own “illegitimate political objectives.”

The widespread abuse of Western citizens’ fundamental rights, including their freedom of speech, the excessive use of force by American and European law enforcement against demonstrators, and the making of political statements about the internal laws of other nations, according to the Iranian official, “clearly prove the instrumental use of human rights.”

Kan’ani stated that it is “very ridiculous” for people to make comments about the judicial punishment meted out to murderers and advocates of violence against the lives, peace, and security of the Iranian people while openly violating the rights of their own citizens while remaining silent about the heinous Israeli crimes against the Palestinians.

The Iranian spokesman made the remarks in response to meddlesome comments made by a number of Western and American officials expressing concern about the execution of three men in Iran.

The widespread violation of fundamental rights, such as the right to free speech, by Western citizens, as well as the excessive use of force by American and European law enforcement against protesters, in the official words of the Iranian official, “clearly prove the instrumental use of human rights.”

People who openly violate the rights of their own citizens while remaining silent about the heinous Israeli crimes against the Palestinians, according to Kan’ani, are “very ridiculous” for their comments regarding the judicial punishment meted out to murderers and advocates of violence against the lives, peace, and security of the Iranian people.
