West News Wire: Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov asserted on Thursday that Washington ultimately dictates every action taken by Kiev, including the selection of targets to attack and the method to be used. After two Ukrainian drones made unsuccessful attempts to attack the Kremlin early on Wednesday morning, he made his remarks.

According to Peskov, “We are fully aware that such decisions the definition of aims, the definition of methods, and so on are all dictated to Kiev by Washington.

Attempts by US and Ukrainian officials to “disown” the incident on Wednesday were derided by President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman as “laughable,” and he insisted that “we know full well that decisions to carry out such terrorist actions are made not in Kiev, but in Washington.”

Peskov asserted that it is important that the US “clearly understands” that Russia is aware of its involvement in Ukraine and “how dangerous such direct involvement is.”

The spokesman said that Kiev’s attempted drone strike on the Kremlin is being thoroughly investigated, but did not provide estimates on when any conclusions would be officially announced.

Peskov reiterated that Moscow reserves the right to respond to the attack with “a variety of steps.” Although declining to specify what those measures might be, the Kremlin official insisted they would be carefully considered and “in line with Russia’s interests.”

Putin’s office reported on Wednesday that two Ukrainian UAVs had been disabled by air defenses while trying to strike the president’s Kremlin residence in Moscow in the early hours of the morning. Putin was not in the Kremlin at the time of the incident and no one was hurt, the statement added.

The unsuccessful drone attack was referred to by Russia as “a pre-planned terrorist act” and an assault on Putin’s life by Kiev.

Vladimir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, has denied that his nation was involved in the attack, and Antony Blinken, the secretary of state of the United States, has stated that Washington could not “in any way validate” Russia’s assertions.

In response to Peskov’s remarks, US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby insisted that Washington was not at all involved in the event. According to him, “We don’t do that, and we had nothing to do with it,” he told MSNBC.

The Kremlin has warned that Moscow will respond to the raid “anywhere and anytime it deems necessary,” and prominent Russian politician Vyacheslav Volodin has urged for the employment of “weapons capable of stopping and destroying the enemy.”
