West News Wire: On Tuesday, Apple is expected to introduce the new iPhone 15 model, which has advancements but also higher prices for some models, according to analysts. Also anticipated are new iterations of the Apple Watch and AirPods.
According to Bloomberg, the brand’s newest smartphone is anticipated to include a USB-C charging connector and an enhanced camera.
The top-end models of the iPhone 15 could, however, command a significant markup, according to Barclays analyst Tim Long in a research note that a news channel has reported.
According to Long, the costs of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will not change.
But the price of the iPhone 15 Pro will rise as much as $100, bringing the total to $1,099; while the iPhone 15 Pro Max will jump as much as $200, catapulting its overall price to $1,299, Long added.
According to Long, the tech giant is hoping that buyers will choose the more expensive models of the iPhone 15 because of its increased storage, longer battery life, faster data transfer speeds, and titanium frames.
The new A17 Bionic chipset processor will also be used by the Pro versions, Long continued.
According to Long, the USB-C charging port will be present in all four models of the iPhone 15, giving customers options if they want to charge their smartphone with a device other than an Apple product.
The Dynamic Island, which displays notifications or progress updates at the top of the display, will be available on all iPhone models for the first time, according to Long.
The company unveiled the iPhone 14 last year, which included a Pro variant with a 48-megapixel camera and Dynamic Island.
On Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET, the product reveal event will be broadcast live online at the Apple website. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 15 will go on sale around September 22.
In a February earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that the business still has the option to increase the price of the iPhone due to how integrated it has become into users’ everyday lives. For instance, according to Cook, consumers keep their banking and health information on their smartphones and even use them to make payments.
“The iPhone has become so integral into people’s lives,” Cook said. “So I think people are willing to really stretch to get the best they can afford in that category.”
The iPhone 15 announcement arrives as Apple faces a prolonged iPhone sales slump, however.
iPhone revenue fell 2.4% over three months ending in June, compared to the same period a year prior, Apple’s most recent earnings report showed. The results marked the third consecutive quarter of sliding iPhone sales.
