West News Wire: When Elton John performs at the White House on Friday night, it turns into a concert venue. The theme of the event is “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme,” which is a nod to a Seamus Heaney poem that President Joe Biden frequently cites.

A+E Networks and the History Channel are coordinating the South Lawn performance. Teachers, nurses, students, gay rights activists, and others will be in attendance, according to the White House.

Jill Biden, the first lady, and Biden are also expected to speak.

To get ready for the concert, workers have begun building a sizable stage on the South Lawn of the White House.

While President Donald Trump was in power, celebrities like John had avoided the White House, but President Joe Biden occasionally hosted musical visitors.

Most recently, James Taylor played a few songs at last week’s event commemorating the passage of legislation that tackles prescription drug prices, climate change and other issues.
